The Professors are a powerhouse jazz quartet blending decades of performance, teaching, and deep musical chemistry. They’ve captivated audiences worldwide—from Beijing to Bogotá—while shaping the next generation of jazz musicians.
The Professors
The Professors are Mark Dziuba (guitar), Vinnie Martucci (piano), Rich Syracuse (bass) and Jeff "Siege" Siegel (drums). They are a group of four university jazz professors and friends. Their life’s work is defined by the creation and performing of great music and sharing their lifetimes of performing and teaching experiences with the upcoming legions of aspiring jazz musicians. Coming together for the first time as a unit in 1994 on guitarist Mark Dziuba’s CD release“Up Until Now”, the unit officially formalized as a quartet once bassist Rich Syracuse joined the other three Professors faculty at SUNY New Paltz in 2015. The four friends have continued their joy of performing together in side projects and gigs throughout the decades ever since, and in fact, the friendships and playing associations go back as far as the mid 80’s for some of the members.
Performances and clinics with the group range from local clubs and concerts in the Hudson Valley of New York to international locales Beijing, China (University of Beijing) and the Escuela de Musica y Audio Fernando Sor in Bogota, Colombia.)
The Professors are celebrating the syndication of their new album "Intersections" for airplay nationwide on NPR stations including our local NPR station WAMC. We're being featured on Jeff Hanley's Jazz After Hours. The group will also have their new recording “Intersections" offered for sale in vinyl or CD at the Falcon show.
