Jeremy Baum Trio: Charlie "Baum" Christmas
Jeremy Baum (piano), Sue Williams (upright bass) & Peter O'Brien (drums).
Jeremy Baum has created this annual tribute to Vince Guaraldi's 1965 studio album, "A Charlie Brown Christmas" - considered one of the most beloved holiday albums recorded. The soundtrack introduced jazz with grace, charm, and creativity, to an entirely new generation, having been heard by more individuals than the work of the genre's most influential players, and influenced dozens of young aspiring musicians.
Guaraldi showed how a piano, bass and drums capture a feeling and character in living color, particularly if those feelings are complex, conflicted or even simply too beautiful for words .....opening doors for later discoveries in Bill Evans, Thelonious Monk, Robert Glasper....to say nothing of all the other sounds and ensembles waiting to be heard with jazz at its pulse." - LA Times
Falcon favorite Jeremy Baum plays the Hammond Organ, piano and leads his trio, which is rooted in the blues and funky soul-jazz sounds of the late 60s. His style is also informed by the current masters of the groove from the jam-band scene.
Jeremy has been a successful sideman, working with Shemekia Copeland, Levon Helm, soul-jazz legend Melvin Sparks, and many more. Look out for his album "The Eel", featuring funky, bluesy compositions as well as original arrangements of songs by Beck, Prince, James Brown and more.
