Matt Finck:
The outstanding guitarist/composer educator Matthew Finck’s remarkable musical journey literally began at birth; and through its progressive twists and turns has now hit a new plateau with his current co-led ensemble: The Matthew Finck Jonathan Ball Project. In between lies a fascinating story of influence, inspiration, search and discovery that has led to Matthew’s reputation as one of the most respected and versatile guitarists on the New York scene.
Through his father – prominent saxophonist and teacher who worked steadily in jazz ensembles, Broadway pit bands and with top name entertainers in the Borscht Belt and all over the U.S. – Matthew was surrounded by a wide assortment of musical and popular artists since childhood. This “second family” included such diverse figures as jazz artists Roswell Rudd, Anthony Braxton, Frankie Dunlop and Ed Summerlin, composer Meyer Kupferman, choreographers/dancers Maurice Hines and Mercedes Ellington, and popular entertainers Milton Berle, Sammy Davis Jr. and Jackie Mason.

After finishing a Bachelors of Music Composition degree at University of Memphis in 1983, he then went to the REAL University of Memphis music: the Memphis club scene. Working his way through the ranks, he ended up in a group called The Coolers, which featured Donald “Duck” Dunn, Stax Records house bassist (Otis Redding, Sam and Dave, but, most notably, Booker T. and the MG’s). This became the premier ryhtym section in town, backing up Charlie Rich, Ron Wood, Jerry Lee Lewis, Joe Walsh, and Luther Ingram, among many others.
Zachary "Zack" Alford:
Zack Alford is a New York based professional drummer known for having toured and/or recorded with some of the world's top musicians. He grew up on Manhattan's upper west side during the robust eras of the 1970's and 1980's. He has played with The B-52's, The Psychedelic Furs, David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Gwen Stefani, Nena, The Manic Street Preachers, Tomoyasu Hotei, Zucchero Fornicari, Suzanne Vega, James Chance, The Dance, Melvin Gibbs, Vernon Reid, Kelvyn Bell, Grayson Hugh, Ivan Julian, Manolo Garcia, Rafael, Kelly Clarkson, Suzanna Hoffs, Maggie's Dream, and more.
