BROCK, LANZETTI, OGAWA is the moniker for a new trio whose members are Zach Brock, Bob Lanzetti and Keita Ogawa: widely known through their association with the jazz-funk group Snarky Puppy.

“...it is the absence of things that makes all the difference here. There is no bassist, no keyboards, no standard drum kit—just violin, guitar and percussion.” - Mike Jacobs, All About Jazz

Zach Brock (4 and 6 string violins), Bob Lanzetti (acoustic and electric guitars), and Keita Ogawa (percussion) formed their new trio during the Covid-19 pandemic. Their music is an eclectic mix of styles that includes elements of jazz, folk, experimental, ambient, groove, and world music, and there is an emphasis on compositions that feature improvisation.

Zach Brock is a multi-Grammy Award-winning violinist, celebrated for his work as a soloist, sideman, and educator, and as a key member of the contemporary jazz group Snarky Puppy. Born in Lexington, KY, he began playing violin at the age of four and developed his improvisational skills in Chicago’s jazz scene while studying classical violin at Northwestern University. His debut album was released in 2003, and he has since collaborated with notable artists like Stanley Clarke and Dave Douglas. His solo work has garnered critical acclaim, including his Grammy-nominated album Dirty Mindz in 2022. A passionate educator, Zach has led workshops and masterclasses at institutions like Carnegie Hall, Temple University, and the Sibelius Academy.

Bob Lanzetti is a guitarist, composer, producer, and educator, and a founding member of the Grammy Award-winning jazz/funk collective Snarky Puppy. Originally from the Jersey Shore, Bob studied under renowned guitarists like Chris Buono and Vic Juris before earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas. While in Texas, he became involved in the local R&B and gospel scenes and joined the core group that would form Snarky Puppy.

Since 2006, Bob has resided in Brooklyn, where he has become an in-demand session guitarist, performing and recording with artists such as Tommy Sims, Brad Shepik, Jeff Coffin, Bilal, and Cory Henry. In addition to his work as a sideman, Bob writes and performs his own original music, releasing his debut album Whose Feet Are These That Are Walking in 2017. As an educator, Bob teaches guitar, gives clinics worldwide, and has participated in outreach programs through Carnegie Hall.

Keita Ogawa is a highly versatile and sought-after percussionist and drummer, originally from Sasebo City, Nagasaki, Japan. He is a five-time Grammy nominee and three-time Grammy Award winner, known for his diverse musical talent. Keita began playing drums at age 15 and later studied at Berklee College of Music, where he trained with renowned musicians. He also spent time in Rio de Janeiro, immersing himself in Brazilian percussion.

Since moving to the U.S., Keita has performed with notable artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Maria Schneider, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and Charlie Hunter. He is a key member of several projects, including Snarky Puppy, Bokanté, and Banda Magda. In 2017, he was named Ambassador of Tourism for his hometown in Japan. Keita is known for his ability to play a wide range of percussion instruments and styles, with a passion for blending cultures through music.
