Bobby Rush, a three-time Grammy winner and Blues Hall of Famer, has become one of the most prominent advocates for the blues tradition and says, “It’s the root of all music, it’s the mother of all music. If you don’t like the blues, you probably don’t like your mama.”

Connor Kennedy is a multi instrumentalist and songwriter. He has no manager, no booking agent, no record label, and no website. He has played guitar with many artists you've heard of, and none of that pertains to the music that will be performed at this event. An exciting new monthly series, The Nest Sessions, is coming this March to the Falcon Underground. Hosted by Hudson Valley’s own Aubrey Haddard and Jose Lopez, The Nest Sessions will open with a curated set of music by the house band led by Haddard and Lopez, followed by a set of specially selected musical guests and an open forum improvisational jam. This month, The Nest Sessions will feature the original music of Aubrey Haddard.

Harry Katz and the Pistachios combine a uniquely raspy voice with raw and powerful rocknroll. Harry straddles the line between blues and retrorock compositions, & modern day relevance.

Hudson Valley-based, rising star Dylan Doyle has been performing nationally and internationally. His style of music lies somewhere between roots rock and jam funk. It evokes Woodstock and dips into southern soul; a uniquely American sound.

Rising artist John Newhall has had a successful start to his music career so far. In November 2023, he started getting serious about pursuing his dream in music and began releasing a string of singles. After thousands of streams, plenty of shows and a real bit of local traction, Newhall realized he wasn’t content. Even though he was finding success, he was doing it alone.

"CONNECTED" was formed during the lockdown. Bassist Richie Goods and vibraphonist Chien Chien Lu had frequent conversations about the Black Lives Matter movement and unwarranted hate crimes against Asians. They decided to undertake a project that would unify people and evoke imagery of love and peace. Not only was the music they produced impressive, but their friendship also deepened as they explored the stereotypical discord that often exists between the African American and Asian communities. Richie Goods and Chien Chien met in 2019 during a European tour. Shortly after, Richie produced Chien Chien's debut album, "The Path." As their collaboration continued to flourish, a new endeavor emerged: "Connected," a project that embodied the profound musical connection between them.

Chien Chien’s foundation in classical training provided a rich and textured canvas upon which their collaborative work thrived. Her intricate knowledge of classical nuances intertwined seamlessly with Richie Goods' background rooted in the realms of R&B and Funk, creating an enchanting juxtaposition of genres that breathed life into their compositions.

Lost Leaders is a rock & roll collaboration featuring Byron Isaacs of The Lumineers (bass/vocals), Peter Cole (gtr, vocals), Will Bryant (keys/vocals) & Randy Schrager (drums).

To be sure, the guitarist and composer Nels Cline has range. Think of how he elevates the songs of Jeff Tweedy as a member of Wilco, or the diverse musical terrain he’s traversed on his albums for Blue Note Records over the past decade — from the gorgeous, sweeping mood music of Lovers to the wide-open sonic audacity of Share the Wealth, the latter featuring his longtime group the Nels Cline Singers. Now comes Consentrik Quartet, the eponymous debut showcasing a newer band. By turns swinging, grooving, bracing, mesmeric and quietly stunning, Consentrik Quartet spotlights the ensemble’s profound chemistry as well as Cline’s versatility as both a player and a writer in a focused context where his gifts can be appreciated with absolute clarity.

Twice GRAMMY-nominated singer/songwriter Becca Stevens has forged a unique career, blending pop, jazz, indie-rock, folk, and world music with her classical and Appalachian roots. Known for her versatile vocals and mastery of multiple string instruments, Stevens’ work transcends genres through intricate rhythms and harmonies.

Dubbed by Rolling Stone as "a genre unto herself," Brooklyn, NY-based Kaki King has proven to be just that. Her career has taken her all over the world, sharing stages with Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters, contributing music to award-winning films (Sean Penn's Into The Wild), and performing at the Kennedy Center, the London Jazz Festival, and the Paris Les Femmes s'en Melent. Her explorations into the guitar and multimedia have led to the creation of groundbreaking work such as The Neck Is A Bridge To The Body, Modern Yesterdays, SEI, and her newest show for audiences of all ages, BUGS. Kaki continues to create, perform, and lend her musical voice to the forefront of contemporary music.

Chris O'Leary and his blues ensemble hail from the Hudson Valley of New York, but there's more than a trace of New Orleans in his music. O'Leary, who sings and plays harp and mandolin, and his band has a laid-back sound, but their solid groove, tight playing and O'Leary's superlative songwriting make them a powerful unit.

Rich Pagano is a New York City/Hudson Valley based drummer, singer-songwriter, music producer, mix engineer, touring musician, activist and educator. His recording/mixing, producing and stage credits include, Patti Smith, Rosanne Cash, Robbie Robertson, Ray Davies, Willie Nile, Elvis Costello, Joan Osborne, Levon Helm, Roger Waters, Ian Hunter, Marshall Crenshaw, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel soundtrack and premiere Beatles band, The Fab Faux. Rich creates colors out of his Hudson Valley recording studio, VlyLand Recordings.

C Lanzbom and Matt Turk have  joined forces to form Deadgrass, a string band adventure through Jerry Garcia’s musical world. Bassist Dave Richards, banjo player Boo Reinersand fiddler Kensuke Shoji complete this fine group of seasoned pros exploring the life works of Jerry Garcia on the instruments that first inspired him. Deadgrass celebrates and interprets the music of Jerry Garcia, drawing from Old & in the Way, JGB, Jerry’s Jug Band days and the Grateful Dead.

Cyro Baptista is a Brazilian born percussionist and composer whose vast talent and penchant for innovation brought him to be praised as one of the most respected musicians in the world.

Durham County Poets are a band in the truest sense of the word. Kevin Harvey, Carl Rufh, Rob Couture & Rob MacDonald write the kind of material that brings music to the ears! Seamlessly blending Blues, Soul, Folk, R&B, and Gospel, Durham County Poets have earned numerous accolades, including multiple Maple Blues Award nominations, a Canadian Folk Music Award nomination, and recognition for Male Vocalist of the Year. Their 2019 album, Hand Me Down Blues, received a Juno Award nomination for Blues Album of the Year. Jonah Smith is a critically acclaimed American artist. He has released several records and has performed around the world at places like Bonnaroo, BAM Festival in Barcelona, The Bowery Ballroom in NYC, Ronnie Scotts in London, SXSW, and countless others. He was a semi-finalist on America’s Got Talent, where he received a standing ovation from Howard Stern. He went on to perform four times on national television from Radio City Music Hall wowing the judges and audiences with his big soulful voice and considerable keyboard chops. In 2022, Bonnie Raitt released a recording of Jonah’s song, “When We Say Goodnight” on her grammy-nominated album “Just Like That”.

Richard Barone of the Bongos and Glenn Mercer of the Feelies join forces for a rare duo performance of a curated set of music from the progressively glam universe of the mid-1970s — a particularly fertile period of rock experimentation. Barone and Mercer will explore songs from historic albums by David Bowie, Brian Eno, Roxy Music, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, T.Rex and others that inspired their own future work. Cindy Cashdollar and Jack Petruzzelli present Two Many Guitars highlighting music from the past 100 years. They will create a musical timeline through traditional American and European styles; songs from the mountains to the American songbook.

Cindy and Jack are well known through their work with Bob Dylan, Patti Smith, Asleep at The Wheel, Joan Osborne and many more. They have enjoyed performing and recording together, and have created this program to play music that has greatly influenced them.

His music has been performed at Carnegie Hall, Town Hall and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York, Ravinia in Chicago, Wigmore Hall in London, Salle Pleyel and the Cathedral des Invalides in Paris, Sala São Paolo in Brazil, the Vienna Konzerthaus Grosser Saal, and SF Jazz Center, among many other venues.

NYC SKA ORCHESTRA is a 20-piece big band that creates and performs lush original compositions and arrangements of songs from the rich, historic, and culturally-iconic Jamaican music styles of ska, mento, rock steady, reggae, and jazz of the 1950s, 60s and 70s. They blend the exuberant musical layers of the jazz big band era, soul and R&B, with Jamaican roots music; effortlessly flowing into a unique, accessible, joyous and danceable sound that audiences love.

The Carrie Zazz Band brings to the stage four seasoned musicians who have their roots in various segments of the music industry. From tours with National and international acts, TV and movie sound, to studio work with well known artists, this convergence of musical talent explodes on stage covering multiple genres of music from the 1960’s to 1980’s.  While the Band is best known for their four part harmonies and tribute to classic rock and country, they have recently been in the studio recording original music and, due to popular demand, some of these tunes have made their way into the show and have been aired on local radio stations.   For the past two years The Carrie Zazz Band has been awarded the prestigious “Best” award by Hudson Valley Magazine, in the categories of “Best Cover Band” and ‘Best Local Band” and have been highlighted in the Amazon best-seller, Music of the Hudson Valley, Part One.

Carper’s deep, old-timey music roots were firmly planted as a child, playing upright bass and singing in her family’s traveling country band in rural Nebraska. Her love of country classics was cultivated as she laid beneath the console listening to her parents’ record collection. Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Ray Charles, Elvis Presley, and more became the soundtrack of her youth.

In addition to recording and touring the world with John Mayall since 2018, Carolyn has recently signed to Alligator Records and has been on the top of the Blues, Americana, and Alt Country charts, gathering critical acclaim for her Dave Alvin produced “Tempting Fate” album, released October 2021! Carolyn has 2 nominations in The Blues Foundation’s 43rd Blues Music Awards, Contemporary Blues Female Artist, and Song of the Year - “Fragile Peace and Certain War”!!!
